Sakamoto Maaya is known well for both her music as well as her voice acting. She made her debut in both areas via the anime "The Vision of Escaflowne" (voicing the character Kanzaki Hitomi). She has since had both musical and voice acting involvement in anime series such as Record of Lodoss War, Kanon, Gundam SEED DESTINY, and .hack//Sign. Another interesting fact is that she voiced Padme Amidala in the Japanese dubs of Star Wars Episodes I-III.
