The Southern All Stars are Japanese rock/pop legends. Their image is very much associated with that of summer, as most of their songs (in particular those around the early years of their career) are about summer, in particular Shounan (which is considered to be Japan's summer beach paradise). While Kuwata was a student at Aoyama Gakuin University, he was in a band called "Better Days". Through this, he met Hara and Sekiguchi, and formed the Southern All Stars. Some time after the groups formation, Hara and Kuwata would marry. Several members of the group also have solo careers: Kuwata Keisuke (both under his name, and Kuwata Band. He has also collaborated with Mr. Children) and Sekiguchi Kazuyuki.
