Suzuki Ami debuted on the Avex label as one of famed producer Tetsuya Komura's projects. In 2000 however, her career came to a screeching halt, when her parents attempted to sue her label for some dispute with her contract. She was black balled by the music industry for many years, until she resurfaced on a small indies label with a single that just barely charted in 2004. After that, in 2005, Avex signed her back on. She's changed her image to a much more mature one than that of her previous pop star self, and even writes her name differently in Japanese.
