INFORMATION:
On 12/31/1996 the rock group Luna Sea (in which Kawamura was the vocalist) paused activities. And at the beginning of 1997, he released his first solo single, which was a smash hit. As were his subsequent singles, namely his second "Glass". He went on for the rest of 1997 releasing successful solo material. In 1998, Luna Sea resumed activities, so his solo work stopped. This continued until Luna Sea broke up at the end of 2000, after which he has resumed his solo career. Though lately, he hasn't been very active.
