As you can probably tell from this song, Utada wrote this specifically to be a children's song. There is a play on words at the beginning that really only makes sense of you look at it in its Japanese context. "I'm not a car", or "kuruma ja nai", is funny because "kuruma" is very similar in sounding to "kuma" ("Bear"). It's understood that the two words could easily be mistaken for one another. |
I'm a bear, bear, bear, bear
I'm not a car, bear, bear, bear
I can't walk, but I can dance
I can't talk, but I can sing
I'm a bear, bear, bear, bear
I'm a bear, bear, bear, bear
I don't like fights, bear, bear, bear
My rival is friend shrimp
I must have been chocolate in my previous life
I'm a bear, bear, bear, bear
Good Morning! My name is Kuma. How are you?
I'm a bear, bear, bear, bear
Winter makes me sleepy, bear, bear, bear
At night it's "Good night, Mr. Pillow"
In the morning it's "Good morning, Mr. Pillow"
I'm a bear, bear, bear, bear
At night it's "Good night, Mr. Pillow"
In the morning it's "Good morning, Mr. Pillow"
I'm a bear, be, be, bear
ar, ar, bear, bear
