Information:
BENI, full name Arashiro Beni, grew up in Okinawa. Her father was American, and her mother Japanese (Okinawan).

She began her singing career in 2002, when she entered the 8th Japanese Nation Bishoujo (Beautiful Girl) Contest. Afterward, she would become a member of idol singing group Bishoujo Club 31. In 2004 she would release her first solo debut single under Arashiro Beni, leaving Bishoujo Club 31.

In November of 2008 she changed record labels, deciding to change the name she released under from her full name to simply "BENI", saying that it sounded more adult. She would also begin featuring on other hip-hop artists songs under this name as well.
