Inoue was born in Los Angeles with Japanese parents who had moved there for their careers. Inoue grew up never learning how to speak fluent Japanese, despite his parents. He claims to have achieved his Japanese language abilities through manga and TV programs. In 2005 he sent some of his recorded material to Japan, and ended up being picked up to Kioon Records.
