Gackt made his musical debut as the singer for the group Malice Mizer in 1995. He left the group in 1999, embarking on his own solo career. He has become a wildly popular artist inside and outside of Japan since. Gackt has also done many other interesting things outside of his music career, such as starring in a movie with L'Arc~en~Ciel vocalist Hyde.
