Ayase is a well known actress who passed through the Horipro Talent Scout Caravan audition in 2000, to begin her acting career in 2001. She has acted in several hit TV dramas, but the most well known is argueably 2004's "sekai no chuusin de ai wo sakebu" ("Crying Out Love, in the Center of the World").

Several of Ayase's singles have been written by very prominent artists in the Japanese music industry such as Mochida Kaori, Kobayashi Takeshi, and Hitoto You.
