Kamiki began her career on an independent label in 2003 under the name "Kurimu", releasing music that was primarily popular in her hometown of Osaka. Her career was given a large boost by B'z, who allowed her to release a version of their song "Pierrot" (with slightly modified lyrics) as a B-side on her "Communication Break" single. Since then, she's become one of the most prominent female rock figures in Japan since Aikawa Nanase.
