Oda Yuji began with a career in sports, but gave it up due to a knee injury. He shortly after began to study to become a drama actor at the University of Pittsburgh. Though he dropped out of University, he did end up fulfilling his dreams of acting in dramas. From the 80s onward, he has starred in many dramas and movies, though his initial debut as a singer came without much immediate success.
