Luna Sea broke up at the end of 2000. Before the band's breakup, Ryuichi (known as Kawamura Ryuichi to the non Luna-Sea listeners out there), Sugizo, and Shinya had all released solo music at some point (though Ryuichi's was the only member's solo music that really took off with the public). After the group dissolved, Ryuichi and Sugizo continued to release various solo materials. Inoran and J also released some of their own.
